Kathmandu: Nurses associated with the Nursing Association of Nepal (NAN) have protested against a recently uploaded video on TikTok in Maitighar Mandala.

The nurses associated with various hospitals participated in the demonstration claiming that the video resulted in character assassination of an on-duty nurse. Nurses were seen on the streets demonstrating playing cards and demanding not to connect the mistake of a single person to defame the nursing profession.

NAN began the protest as a video showing a conversation between an on-duty nurse and a patient’s relative, was uploaded in TikTok without taking permission, in the Emergency Care Unit of B.P. Memorial Cancer Hospital in Chitwan. The demonstrators have been claiming the video resulted in the infringement of the professional dignity of nurses.

NAN condemned the video resulted in trivial comments over the on-duty nurses, without understanding the facts. Also, the demonstrators claimed the video has as a whole insulted the profession of nurses.

The association has demanded the government for taking action against the involved person in the incident. The video of the on-duty nurse was uploaded from the TikTok account ‘Givina Magar.’ The video captured the inhuman behavior of the nurse. But, with hundreds of reports on the video, TikTok has restricted the account.
