Kathmandu: Police have recommended prosecuting 32 people including the absconding ones in the fake Bhutanese refugee scandal.
Police have accused government officers, ministers, and middlemen of taking Nepali citizens to the USA making them fake Bhutanese refugees. Police have recommended prosecuting the total accused in 4 crimes.
There is a provision for registering charge sheets against the arrested ones in the court within 60 days of the arrest by the Office of the Public Prosecutor. Police arrested the first accused person in the case 57 days before. There is a probable chance of the charge being registered today or tomorrow.
Police have arrested a total of 16 people during the investigation of the case. Police have kept other 16 people on the list of absconding ones. The former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa,’s son Pratik, and his advisor Indrajit Rai’s son Niraj Rai are on the list of absconding ones.
Likewise, 16 people including former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, security advisor of former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa; Indrajit Rai, and son of Top Bahadur Rayamajhi’s son Sandeep Rayamajhi have been arrested.
