Manpower recruitment agencies earn 77.5 billion in nine months

Kathmandu: Manpower recruitment agencies of Nepal have earned a total of 77.5 billion rupees in nine months.

The agencies have collected Rs 77.5 billion from those going for foreign employment from mid-July last year to mid-March this year. During this period, 387,900 people have left the country to reach different destination for foreign employment.

Similarly, 217,959 youths have gone abroad with renewed labor permit. During this period, Malaysia has seen the highest number of Nepali migrant workers. A total of 187,278 workers have gone there in nine months.

The government has implemented ‘free visa-free ticket’ for migrant workers. As per this provision, workers do not have to pay huge amount of money to the manpower recruitment agencies for foreign employment.

But the workers say that they cannot go to any destination country without paying at least Rs 2 00,000. The government has been unable to curb the arbitrariness of the agencies. At present, there are 846 manpower agencies in Nepal.
