Kathmandu: Former Deputy Prime Minister and CPN (UML)’s secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi was absconding just after an arrest warrant was issued against him, regarding his involvement in the fake Bhutanese refugee scandal on Baisakh 20.

Rayamajhi became contactless just after returning to Butwal from Arghakhanchi. He was in Arghakhanchi to attend a program. And then the police started fetching Rayamajhi.

The former home minister and Nepali Congress leader Balkrishna Khan was arrested on Wednesday. Many people thought this would stimulate Top Bahadur to surrender. Because UML was suspecting political biases to trap the opposition parties member in the fake Bhutanese refugee scandal.

Instead of surrendering, Rayamajhi sent a letter to the parliament secretariat; mentioning his sickness. The House of Representatives (HoR) member kept signaling to continue his hiding. Despite his attempt of continuing his hiding, he was busted.

Police busted Rayamajhi in Pasikot, Budhanilkantha on Sunday evening. The police took him to Metropolitan Police Circle Sohrakhutte.

Before appearing in the Kathmandu District Court, police took him to the Public Prosecution’s Office at 3:30 pm.

Rayamajhi’s presentation was different from that of how former home minister Balkrishna Khand appeared in public. Khand appeared wearing a mask with his head pointing downwards.

But, Top Bahadur unmasked himself. He was smiling and waving his hand. He immediately smiled and waved his hand toward media persons just after stepping into the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Babarmahal. He was not handcuffed.
