Audio clip is ‘the rape of my character’: Arzu Rana

Kathmandu: Lawmaker of Nepali Congress Arzu Rana Deuba has condemned the recently released audio clip, calling it ‘the rape of her character’.

Taking special time in the House of Representative, Arzu has vehemently objected to the personal defamation by linking her name to the Bhutanese refugee scandal.

‘Fake audio has been made not only of mine, but also of others’, she said, ‘Why is only my name being articulated?  Honestly speaking, it’s not a character assassination, it’s the rape of my character.’

Arzu also noted that women have to face a lot of problems when they join politics. ‘Women have to face everything when they come to politics, I am facing it right now’, she said, ‘Such kind of action should not be allowed against all women.’

She lamented that she had not received any response despite having lodged an application at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and cybercrime cell of Nepal Police six days ago for forensic test of the audio.
