Party has no links with Madan Rai, child sexual abuse deplorable: RSP

Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has clarified that the party has no links with Madan Rai and termed child sexual abuse by Rai ‘deplorable’.

RSP issued a statement on Friday evening, saying that the party has no connection with Rai. The statement signed by party spokesperson and general secretary Mukul Dhakal has also made it clear that action should be taken against Rai in accordance with existing laws.

“The party has taken seriously the questions and reactions regarding the relationship of agriculture expert Madan Rai with the Rastriya Swatantra Party. He was invited as a guest speaker at (Kathmandu) Valley assembly held by our party on August 27, 2079,” reads the statement.

‘It was usual at that time to invite Rai as an agriculture expert with experiences and studies, and he is not even an ordinary member of Rastriya Swatantra Party’, the statement further said.

The statement also read that Rai has no connection with RSP and sexual abuse of children by is condemnable, adding action should be taken against him as per the law.

Rai was arrested on Friday for sexually abusing children in his Shubhadra Madan Foundation. Police arrested him after the sexual abuse incident become public.
