Kathmandu: Tal Barahi is one of the popular religious sites of Pokhara.

The geographical features of this temple, situated in the middle of the Phewa Lake, have taken its beauty to another level.

One needs to ride on a boat to reach the temple. Both national and international tourists prefer visiting the temple at least once, when in Pokhara.

The clear sky also adds beauty to the scenario. The reflection of Macchapuchre Mountain can be seen in the water when the weather is clear.

Fares are often organized on the occasion of kojagrat purnima and other religious festivals.

If we look back to the history of the temple, we can find that King Kulmandan Shah had built the temple using a thatched bush.

The temple has remained in existence since 1669 B.S. Previously, there was a statue upon the pile of soil. But after the establishment of the temple, it was worshipped as the temple of goddess Barahi.

Likewise, King Mahendra renovated the temple in its current form in 2017 B.S. But as the structure of the temple is deteriorating, the process of renovating the temple from the base level has started.

Currently, he act of clearing debris and renovating the temple is going on.
