Kathmandu: Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday in the excise policy case.
Addressing the media after emerging from the CBI headquarters, CM Kejriwal said that he was asked 56 questions by the CBI, claiming the case over excise policy was false. He also slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for dirty politics to tarnish AAm Aadmi Party (AAP).
‘They asked me 56 questions’, Kejriwal said, ‘I believe that this is a completely false case, and they have no evidence against AAP.’
‘The whole alleged liquor scam is a lie… AAP is a kattar (hardcore) honest party. Honesty is our basic ideology, we will die, but won’t compromise on that,’ Kejriwal added.
Kejriwal spent over nine hours at the CBI office. ‘I want to thank the CBI officers for their hospitality. They asked their questions in a friendly and respectful manner,’ he said, ‘I answered all the questions because I had nothing to hide,’
Kejriwal claimed that the reason his party was being targeted was because BJP couldn’t do good work, such as building schools, and so the only option it had was to destroy AAP.
Earlier, in a five-minute video message on Twitter before arriving at the heavily fortified headquarters of the Central Bureau of Investigation at around 11 am, Kejriwal claimed that the BJP might have ordered the agency to arrest him.
‘Since yesterday, all BJP leaders are screaming at the top of their voices that Kejriwal will be arrested, and I think BJP has instructed CBI to arrest Kejriwal. If BJP has given an order, then who is CBI? The agency will arrest me.’ He added, ‘These people are very powerful. They can send anyone to jail. It does not matter if a person has committed any crime or not.’
But he asserted in that he would honestly answer questions posed by the CBI in the excise case as he has nothing to hide.
