Shrestha slams his dismissal as ‘public stunt’

Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Dr. Dhaka Kumar Shrestha has slammed the party and its leadership, dubbing his dismissal as ‘public stunt’.

‘The party has performed the public stunt against me,’ Shrestha told Nepalviews. His remark came after RSP dismissed him from party’s general membership and the position of federal lawmaker on Wednesday.

Shrestha also alleged that the RSP leadership has breached the statutory provision of the party and existing laws. ‘No one is above the law’, he said, ‘The action against me shows that a person is above the law and that president is above party’s statute and law.’

He further said that the action against him did not follow the due procedure. ‘There should be a due process to take action but such thing lacks,’ he said asking, ‘How can a party function this way?’

While attending Wednesday’s meeting, Shrestha complained that some people conspired against him and asked the party to find the ‘core team’. President Lamichhane responded saying that investigation on ‘core team’ will be conducted later.

RSP had dismissed Shrestha after an audiotape was released on Sunday in which he was asking for 20 million rupees from businessman Durga Prasai. RSP had also decided to recommend Bindabasini Kansakar as the member of House of Representatives.
