Hyundai Motor’s IONIQ 6 wins ‘World Car of the Year’ prize

Kathmandu: Hyundai Motor won three awards at the 2023 World Car Awards, including the prize ‘ The World Car of the Year’ for IONIQ 6.

Hyundai Motor’s electrified model IONIQ 6 was honored with ‘the World Car of the Year’ at the 2023 World Car Awards. With this, Hyundai Motor took home the ‘World Car of the Year’ prize second time in a row and winning this prize three times over the time of four years.

Last year, Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 was awarded with the ‘World Car of the Year’ prize. While Kia Telluride, a mid-sized SUV, won the same prize in 2020.

According to the award organizing committee, Hyundai Motor picked up three awards this year: The 2023 World Car of the Year, the 2023 World Electric Vehicle of the Year, and the 2023 World Car Design of the Year.

Moreover, as the Kia EV6 GT was named the world’s high-performance car, Hyundai Motor Group won four out of the six categories at the World Car Awards.

The committee for the World Car Awards is headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Its jury of 100 renowned automobile journalists from 32 countries selects and awards winners with secret ballots every year.
