Coalition meeting to resume at 3pm, cabinet likely to get shape tomorrow

Kathmandu: The meeting of the ruling coalition partners held this morning in a bid to forge consensus on power-sharing deal and cabinet expansion ended inconclusively.

As the leaders of ruling parties failed to reach the agreement on power-sharing deal and expanding the council of ministers, the meeting is set to resume at 3 pm today.

Today’s meeting is expected to strike the deal on power-sharing and expanding the cabinet. But as ruling parties stand firm in their claims to the ministries, no consensus has been reached yet.

Amid this, leaders are trying their hard to expand the cabinet as soon as possible. Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak said that the coalition partners held discussion to expand cabinet in two phases.

According to Lekhak, 3pm meeting will reach an agreement to go forward as per the spirit of the coalition. ‘Possibly, cabinet will be partially expanded tomorrow,’ he said, ‘The expansion will be likely to occur in two phases.’
