Vacant villages won’t bring prosperity : Bhattarai

Kathmandu: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has claimed that vacant villages would not bring prosperity.

Bhattarai coined that any physical development project in rural areas is meaningless if there are no people to consume its services.

‘What will vacant village-led development give the nation?’, Bhattarai said, ‘This is a harsh reality that youth are migrating in search of employment by leaving the lands barren. Let’s create employment opportunities in our village to stop youth.’

Bhattarai said, ‘ The road is constructed but there is no quality education. The village is totally empty. Prosperity will only be possible if the migrated people can find the optimistic reason for returning to their village.’

He further added the availability of a modern agriculture system, and opening the medicinal herbs processing industry can make youth manpower stay in the village.

Bhattarai said that providing quality education to children can stop family migration to urban areas.

Bhattarai had visited his hometown Palungtar, Gorkha for attending the stone laying ceremony of the ‘Panthiti-Kataharey-Harmi-Sahiltar Road Upgrade Project.’

He had spent a night in his ancestral home and was concerned about the decreasing number of people in his hometown.

Bhattarai, who was nominated from Gorkha led to become Finance Minister and then Prime Minister of Nepal.
