Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Public Prosecutor’s Office has decided not to prosecute Rabi Lamichhane on the passport-related case.
The District Prosecutor’s office has come up with the conclusion of not suing Lamichhane after an in-depth study of the use of a passport.
Earlier, a complaint had been filed against Lamichhane regarding misusing his old Nepali citizenship to gain a Nepali passport having foreign citizenship.
The office came up with the conclusion that Lamichhane did not misuse his Nepali passport although he, being a foreign citizen, used his old citizenship to gain the passport.
The Head of Kathmandu District Public Prosecutor Achyutmani Pokhrel said that the lack of evidence against Lamichhane led to the decision.
No evidence has been found against his offense regarding his citizenship and passport. District Attorney’s Office has sent the file to the High Public Prosecutor’s Office for acceptance of the decision.
The high Public Prosecutor’s Office has to support and send the decision to Attorney General’s Office. The Attorney General will decide either to continue the case or support the decision of the district or High Public Prosecutor’s Office.
